Collaborative Pathways is an interactive platform designed to equip anyone working with children and families with alternative strategies to support families instead of reporting to child welfare.
During federal fiscal year 2022, Child Protective Services (CPS) conducted investigations or alternative responses involving approximately 3,096,101 children. Of these, 558,889 children were determined to be victims of abuse or neglect, representing about 18% of total cases. This indicates that approximately 82% of the unsubstantiated cases underwent investigations that were intrusive, stressful, and potentially caused unnecessary trauma for families.
The high proportion of unsubstantiated cases underscores the importance of developing and utilizing alternative strategies, such as Collaborative Pathways to equip social workers, professionals, teachers, nurses, community members, and organizations with access to alternative responses to proactively support families, build trust, and prevent unnecessary trauma.
